Supporter of the Secession style of art. Influenced by Aubrey Beardsley and Mikhail Vrubel’. Studied in Poltava under Grigorii Miasoedov and then in Moscow (1912). With Fedir Krychevsky and Ivan Miasoedov member of a nudist and body-building group in Poltava. Painted large decorative panels drawing on many iconographie sources – Classical, Assyrian, Poltava folk art. Close to Natalia Goncharova and Mikhail Larionov (with whom he was filmed in Drama in the Futurists’ Cabaret No. 13). Also in contact with David Burliuk, Velemir Khlebnikov, Boris Pasternak, Maria Syniakova. Committed suicide after drug overdose.
