ROMAN BARANYK
1927
Born September 27, 1927 in Chortkiv, Ukraine. Painter, graphic artist, and designer. Came from Great Britain to Canada in 1950 where he studied at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto (1954-55). Moved to the USA and studied at Wayne State University in Detroit (1955-60). He worked as a stylist designer at the Chrysler Corporation (1955-75) and at General Motors Company as advertising illustrator-designer (1976-1989). Selected Group Exhibitions: Butler Institute of Arts, Youngstown, Ohio; National Religious Art Exhibition, Detroit (1964); Four Arts Florida Annuals, Palm Beach; Ukrainian Artists International Exhibit, Toronto (1982). Solo exhibition: Grinnels Gallery, Detroit (1963), W and W Gallery, Toronto (1968), Ukrainian Cultural Club, Detroit (1970), Ukrainian Canadian Art Foundation, Toronto (1988).
