OLEKSANDR KHVOSTENKO-KHVOSTOV
1895–1967
Attended MIPSA under Konstantin Korovin (1907-1917), and Aleksandra Ekster‘s Workshop of Art and Design in Kyiv. Worked with Vasyl Yermylov in the Ukrainian ROSTA in Kharkiv (display windows of the telegraph agency used for propaganda) (1920-1921). Member of OSMU. 1920 onwards Constructivist stage designer of operas and ballets, both classical and avant-garde in Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Moscow theaters. Collaborated with experimental directors and choreographers such as I. Lapitsky, M. Dikovsky, and Nikolai Foregger. Contributed to international exhibitions of decorative art.
