ANATOL PETRYTSKY
1895–1964
Major contributor to modern Ukrainian stage design. Studied at KKhU Fotii Krasits’ky, Fedir Krychevsky, and Aleksandr Murashko (1910-1918) and in Moscow at Vkhutemas under Aleksandr Drevin, Robert Falk, Petr Konchalovsky, Ilia Mashkov, and Nadezhda Udaltsova (1922-1924). 1914 onwards contributed to exhibitions. Painted decorative panels for street fairs, theaters, and clubs (1915-1920). Designed opera and ballet sets for both classical and avant-garde repertoires in Moscow, Kyiv, and Kharkiv theaters. Member of ARMU and OSMU. Participated in the Venice Biennale (1930).
